🌵One‑Minute Blog: Why Cactus Matter More Than We Think

Cacti are not just plants — they are silent teachers. In our terrariums, they become the stars of each ecosystem, reminding us that resilience is a form of beauty, and that even in the driest places, life insists on blooming.

My connection with cactus began in 2017, during a moment of deep reflection about my future. I was surrounded by nature in the Andes of Huaraz, honoring Mother Earth, when I encountered a plant known as San Pedro. A master plant. A guide the Incas used to connect with the divine, to seek clarity, and to make decisions for the wellbeing of their people.

The Incas believed that certain plants opened a doorway to understanding — not to escape reality, but to be fully present within it. San Pedro was one of those sacred allies. It opened the heart, sharpened intuition, and reminded leaders of their responsibility to the land and to their community. It wasn’t about visions; it was about wisdom.

And beyond their beauty, cacti remind us of something essential: to exist and to coexist with plants is to reconnect with our origin. And the origin always leads us back to purpose. Without purpose, life feels heavy; with purpose, life becomes something we can truly enjoy.

That is why even a simple cactus can bring us back to the question that quietly follows us from the moment we wake at dawn: Where do I begin? Calm and silence — the same calm and silence that live inside a cactus — always know the answer.

I love cacti because they embody everything I learned that day: that wellbeing grows when we respect the earth, when we listen to silence, and when we allow nature to guide us back to ourselves.
